I have been looking for the perfect beige/camel coat basically since last summer...and had all but given up hope on finding the right one. Last weekend I happened upon this one (on SUPER sale) and snatched it up. It's a beautiful neutral color, kind of a cross between pink and nude...which means I can wear it with everything. It's very soft and comfortable, and a little oversized because I sized up one size. It's still on sale....shop it HERE.
This Winter has been unseasonably warm, and while I'm loving it, the crazy high temps in December & January have made it challenging to figure out what to wear. I like to stick to easy, neutral transitional pieces (like the ones shown here) that can be mixed and matched with other pieces in my wardrobe. If you layer pieces of different weight, you can always add/subtract based on the weather. Last Sunday I enjoyed brunch outside (!) on a strangely warm and sunny January day. Shop this look below (including some suede heels currently on sale for under $40!).
As most of you already know - I started my business in 2009 doing makeup for weddings. I was fortunate enough to have my work featured in publications such as DailyCandy, Washingtonian Magazine, Washingtonian Bride & Groom, Refinery29, Martha Stewart Real Weddings, etc. As amazing as those years were, and as much as I loved it, I decided I had to take a break over the past year. I had a new baby, my full-time job became more demanding, and we were looking to purchase our first home. I had to let something go (to preserve my sanity), and of course it had to be my side-business. I also wanted to take some time to think about the next iteration of Bateman Beauty. I LOVE makeup, skincare and the business of beauty (and always will), but I was ready to bring my passion for fashion and style into the mix.
So here it is: I am excited to share that Bateman Beauty is expanding in 2016! I will now be offering personalized wardrobe editing sessions. I know (from personal experience) that most of us have too many clothes and still feel that we have nothing to wear each day. I have talked to so many ladies who all say the same thing: "My closet is overflowing, but I have nothing to wear!" After closely examning my own wardrobe while creating my dream closet in our new home, I would love to help you edit your closet and SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE.
Does your overflowing closet make you feel anxious, but you don’t know how to start the clean-out process?
Do you continue to buy clothes because you don’t even really know what you already have?
Do you try on multiple outfits each day before you settle on one that fits and makes you feel good?
Are you holding onto old clothes for the wrong reasons?
Do you own clothes that are appropriate for your actual, current lifestyle, not your previous lifestyle, or one you wish you had?
Can you imagine a day where you love EVERY SINGLE item in your closet? One where everything fits and makes you feel like your best self? If this sounds appealing you you - let Bateman Beauty help you make this dream a reality.
Here’s how it works:
1) I take you through the wardrobe editing process; determining what stays and what goes
2) I help you identify what’s missing from your ideal wardrobe
3) I follow up with a personalized shopping plan, created specifically for your lifestyle and wardrobe needs
Contact me to set up a weekend date for your personalized wardrobe editing session. I can't wait to work with you in 2016!
I have been thinking about this year that's gone by so quickly, and spending some time reflecting on 2015 - as we prepare to move into 2016 in a couple short days. This has been an incredible, crazy year for me and my family....and I couldn't be more thankful or grateful for all that happened in the past 12 months. We bought our first home, where we watched Everly take her first steps and where she continues to grow into the beautiful 18-month old girl that she is today. She is smart, independent and extremely feisty. She knows what she wants and is trying so hard to tell us. She is saying lots of words and desperately wanting to communicate in full sentences. She is absolutely obsessed with her Dad and wants nothing more than to be with him 24/7. She loves giving hugs and kisses and is just the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I took on a new role at work and have had a very busy 6 months. I wrapped up the first year of this new program on a very successful note and was even honored with an excellence award a couple of weeks ago. I've also been fortunate enough to have some time off these past couple of weeks, and have put some thought into my Bateman Beauty business. Some big changes are coming in the new year (more on that tomorrow!) and I can't wait to share.
I'm not usually one for making resolutions; rather I try to set some mini goals throughout the year. With that being said, there are of course some things I want to focus on in 2016. I want to try to make more time for my family, and find a little bit more balance between work and life (that's everyone's goal, right?!). I do have some separate goals tied to my day job, but I won't bore you with those here. I also want to update my blog more regularlay and expand my side business into a new area that I love and am passionate about. Last but not least, I want to resume my fitness routine. This year has been so busy, and with a new house, a baby and demanding full-time job - it has not been easy to make time for exercise. Everly has gotten older and things are a little easier with her these days. I think I've gotten back into a routine here lately, but the real challenge will be keeping it up once I'm back in the full swing of our busy lives.
I would love to hear about your goals for 2016! Do you have things you want to focus on, or work on in the new year? Wishing all of you a happy and healthy year ahead, filled with love, family, happiness and much success.
